| The sound at Terminal 5 was excellent. Alabama Shakes had a nice mix that allowed you clearly hear the different instruments when they were highlighted. |
The reviews are amazing…never before have I read so much great noise about band in this short period of time. Even at the local craft beer vault (Congers Beverage), this band was the topic of a conversation as a result of recent Rolling Stone and WFUV attention.
Here is a YouTube clip…(I have posted bunch of others at the end below) BTW…No shit, I just got chills listening to the clip.
Not far removed from playing local places and opening for Drive By-Truckers, the Brittany Howard-led band from Georgia…The Alabama Shakes are the most happening thing in rock music.

Here is the Entertainment Weekly story by Josh Stillman and Brooklyn Vegan piece with photos by Tracy Allison.
Liner note: I had to borrow photos from others since my camera was not allow in at the door (my media pass was not processed/lost/ ignored).

| Terminal 5 makes me think of Mad Max Thunderdome. Very steep. The crowd’s energy feeds the show… CLICK BELOW FOR ANOTHER GREAT CLIP FROM THE SHOW |
I was on the floor near the rear bar with a good view of the whole stage the audience. From start to finish, every song (and I mean every song) had the crowd engaged to the max.
The power of this lady singing and playing left handed electric guitar was like nothing I have ever seen. The only show that had this high-level energy from the lead singer every moment was a David Byrne appearance at the lovely (and sorely missed Ventura Theater).
The first time I saw them as a headliner at the Brooklyn Bowl they sold out and surprised me.
The second time I saw them as a headliner at Williamsburg Music Hall…they were just as good and actually evolved into something bigger and better.
This erased all thoughts of I just caught them on a good night. I know that to retain a level of intensity show after show is one of the hardest things with live touring bands.
Three times…now and still getting better. This song “Heavy Chevy” (click video below) has turned into a nice barnstormer for the band…
Their records and even live recording don’t do them justice. It is a must see to experience their power.
Here is a last little taste of the music from this night…
