Bob and Barbara’s Lounge in Philadelphia on South Street is the most authentic music-centric lounge bar I have ever been to.

Citing itself as “serving cold beer and cocktails since 1969 and featuring a Hammond B-3 organ music combo playing “Liquor Drinking Music” with no cover charge on Friday and Saturday nights.

They started the now famous “The Citywide Special” — $3.75 for a can of Pabst and a shot of Beam.

Wow. That says it all.

While two fisted with two cans on Pabst and two shots (empty glasses of course) of Beam…I snapped this picture that summed it all up.  BTW, there is no color twisting of this photo…the place was green.

The trio (The Crowd Pleasers) squashed up against the dance floor wall and featuring a multi ringed Hammond Organ plater, a high energy treble guitar and the coolest muther-fucka drummer you ever seen… peaked with a bone rattling “Ain’t No Sunshine” and a rousing “I Feel Good”.

On a more somber note me guide for the night Dave T, told me the band recently lost its hot-as-hell sax player.

My next trip to the City of Brotherly Love is on a Tuesday though (no band)…cant wait to get back and see them guys.
