I count myself one of the few (hundred) lucky to be in the small renovated Nyack church center to see the stunning and beautiful musical performance by a large group of very talented and tuned in musicians who put on “Dark Side of The Hudson” in tribute to Pink Floyd’s masterpiece.
In addition to orgasmic peaks (saxophone and female vocals stand super tall), the show was accompanied by uniquely Floyd artsy cartoon video imagery.
Ever since being engulfed (again) in the whole Floyd thing just after Roger played Yankee Stadium…Floyd creeps in me mind daily.
This show on Feb 22 in Nyack was such a genuine and powerful recreation of their music. I find myself listening to Animals each day since.
Here is a video of them with the video visuals.
BTW…an interesting observation about the audience at Dark Side of the Hudson…people seemed to want to jump out of their seats at times, but the crowd sat and swayed in their chairs all night. Next time…I’d loose the seats. Let the audience have at it.
I want to personally thank Dylan Kelehan of Dylan’s School of Music for being such a big part of bringing this great show to town.
Please let me know when you’re playing again.
NOTE: Some of you know Dylan from the sweet little trio he pulled together for one of our summer parties.
I pulled this from their web:
The Dark Side of the Hudson returns!
Presented by Rivertown Films
Dark Side of the Hudson presents Pink Floyd albums EXACTLY the way you are used to hearing them. With an all-star 11 piece band featuring 3 female backing vocalists, the instruments, voices and sounds are mimicked so precisely, that when you experience them live, you won’t miss a thing. The band will bring you right back to the moments that Pink Floyd gave you and take you on a musical and visual journey that cascades through time and space. The band performs Pink Floyd’s 1975 release “Wish You Were Here” featuring the atmospheric and psychedelic piece, “Shine on you Crazy Diamond”, detailing the madness of Pink Floyd’s former front-man Syd Barret. The band also performs Pink Floyd’s 1973 release “Dark Side of the Moon” which has sold an estimated 40 million copies world-wide.
In addition to the listening portion of the event, Dark Side of the Hudson will be projecting the original footage the band toured with during the performance to give you the full experience. Immerse yourself in the band and listen for every nuance. Do not miss this incredible night of music and film.
