Tom Brady Takes Of His Helmet in the Rodeo Gate (Jets – Patriots 10/15/17)
I share Jets season tickets with a friend. We have three seats directly next to the visiting team runway in the corner of the end zone.  We have a unique view of the game. I love to sit directly next the runway so I can watch the players prepare for entering the arena and get an intimate glimpse to the world of gridiron gladiators. Watching the players in the minutes just before they run out on the field reminds of me bulls getting ready to bust out of a rodeo gate. The build-up is always explosive.
A few Sundays ago when Tom Brady and the Patriots came to New Jersey, I witnessed something different then ever before.
Tom did not wear his helmet when entering the field. He wanted everyone to see and he wanted to see everything around him.  Visiting players always have their helmet on in the Giants Stadium (now Met Life) runway as a way to protect themselves from physical and mental abuse.
In addition, he was calm and loose.  Brady talked with his teammates while in the runway like they were in the huddle. At one point, Tom turned around to a fan (in the row directly behind me) to say, “what do you want buddy”.  I was lucky enough to grab a picture of this (see above). Tom was in control. He was the epitome of cool.
Despite not playing particularly well, Tom Brady and Patriots went on to beat the Jets.

Mr. Cool. So cool.

LYFT Shuttle Reinvents Bus Transport
The newer car service on the block LYFT (website) is testing a service called Shuttle in an interesting “kick over the card table” move in its battle with Uber.  The “new” idea of sharing a ride with others on common routes during peak travel times works when you cater to people’s desire to avoid taking the bus. Data collected on passengers and travel patterns allows this concept to work in new and efficient ways as traffic patterns and behaviors are precisely measured.

Although similar to the trolley car concept, after some initial tests Shuttle service was expanded in San Francisco. I must admit the idea of jumping in a Cadillac Escalade for a few bucks in Nyack that takes me from the Palisades Mall to Tarrytown train station (then perhaps onto Westchester Mall and Port Chester) is attractive.
Sometimes rethinking simple ideas end up being the most revolutionary.
The Common Application Used For College Admissions is Like an MP3
The lack of satisfaction received from hitting “send” on the electronically submitted college Common Application was similar to my early experiences with downloading an MP3. Very unfulfilling and empty.
I prefer holding the album, cassette and even CD.
I prefer stuffing the application in an envelope, licking the stamp and driving it to the postman.
I am working hard to rid of my paper calendar though and use the calendar in my iPhone. Small steps, but are we moving forward. My recommendation is to stay as analog as possible.
