I had no idea that Andrew Bird (website) was in the Squirrel Nut Zippers! “How friggin’ cool is that” I thought as I walked into his show at The Capitol Theatre in February. 


I listened intently to my well-versed show mates as they talked about Bird’s wonderful musical talents.


Armed with an arsenal of classical instruments and a strong (yet clearly supporting) backing band, The Bird Man fiddled, fluted and sang beautifully  His tunes were carefully crafted and the proof point for calling him an entertainer extraordinaire. I was not surprised to read that his degree from Northwestern University was in violin performance.


Being such a big Neil Young fan, I certainly loved his soulful Harvest. I woke up the next day, humming the song and happy to have spent time with The Bird Man.
