
Last week Neil played MSG with Wilco. I did not have the urge to go as my desire to see Neil in recent years was waned, but the Billboard review on Reuters says it was quite a good show. It sounds like Neil is doing his power tour where he turns the amps to “11” and batters major scales atop his three chord anthems. Of the ten Neil shows I have attended, four of them were of this sort always generates a good sweat and a perm-a-grin. Stomping to Cortez the Killer, Powderfinger and Rockin’ in the Freeworld is great once you get there.

The Wilco (who I have seen a few times in the last year) set is intriguing as the writer connects Tweedy’s bunch to Neil…”they could very well become the Neil Young of a younger generation”. Although the differences are many, I am glad to see others trying to connect the past to the present. It’s fun…(see my last post).
