The Dead with Warren Are Back!!

The surviving members of The Grateful Dead (The Dead) have announced that they will embark on their first tour in nearly five years this spring. They will hit the road beginning in mid-April and play approximately 20 shows across the US through mid-May.

The band reformed last October for a Barack Obama benefit concert in Pennsylvania, fueling rumours that they would get together for a proper tour. The band, which now consists of original members Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, will be joined by their 2004 tourmates Warren Haynes on guitar (replacing late guitarist Jerry Garcia) and Jeff Chimenti on keyboards. Warren (the hardest working man in rock and roll) toured with The Dead in ’04 and was fantastic. I was lucky enough to catch the lineup in Buffalo…he’s probably the only one who can make people enoy a Jerry-less Dead.

The tour starts April 12 in Greensboro, NC and comes to NY on April 24 @ Nassau Coliseaum, April 25 @ MSG and April 28 @ Meadowlands. There are stopd in Philly and Albany too, if those dates don’t fit your fancy.

A TBR on-site report will surely come…
