Every once in a while an album catches me by the throat of the neck…

It’s usually one of the six hidden CDs in my truck’s stereo…

It usually has some sort of identity that resonates with my musical tastes but carries a flag of its own…

Magnolia Electric Co.’s “Trials and Errors” is all three.

I thank the kind folks at Pandora for the intro.  As part of my “Drive-By-Truckers” station they mix in songs by other like band…in this case Magnolia Electric Co….the Jason Molina led project.

Since downloading the disc in iTunes Jan 1…I find myself itching each day for its sound.  that song “Leave the City” and its crazy trumpet is my north star.

Music catches people’s wit in different ways, so not sure if this will catch yours.

In fact, I gave my copy of the cd to a friend the other day and wrote some notes on the back…(see above).

I feel like the golin in the Hobbit looking for my “precious” cd.

I have a feeling Molina will resurface (he’s been in rehab hiding) one day soon at a club in Brooklyn.

We be there.

Flap your wings.
