It has been 12 yrs since my last Jimmy Buffett show and I was a bit trepidatious about damaging the lovey-dovey feelings I have about my Parrothead memories.

In fact, my good friend (a serious Buffet man) warned me not to go. On Aug 22, Shrimper Dan returned. Here is the setlist.

After battling through rain storms and intense traffic to make it to Long Island’s Southern State Pky “Jones Beach” exit….the beautiful blue sky opened up all above the beachhead and the island music started to ring from the many cars making their way beside me to the great parking lot in the sky.

I knew I made the right decision.

There ain’t nothing like a Buffett show.

It’s funny, he hasn’t changed as much as I have.

It has one of the few PG-13 parking lot scenes that plays strong for anyone who knows that 10 great beach and tequila songs from the greatest hits album.

For us grizzled old Buffett fans at the show — hearing some the lesser know songs like “Tin Cup Chalice”, “Landfall” and one of my personal favorites “Coconut Telegraph” — the same way they have always been done is certainly a treat and reminder that the good guys win, and Jimmy is on our team.

By the way, I had me toes crossed for a rousing “Gods Own Drunk”…a fearless man. Guess I’ll have to wait for the next Boozin Tunes.
Not many songs like “Son of A Sailor”…for TBR friends, I think there is a little sailor in many of y’all.

Flap your wings.
