On Sunday, October 27 just shortly after the Giants/Eagles game started in Philadelphia, my friend DT says to me…Mike Cav just texted me that Lou Reed died.

We looked at each with an understanding and immediately started telling Lou Reed-esque stories and citing songs.

My favorite is “Waiting for the Man” and “Vicious.

DT cites “Hangin’ Round” and the story of Harry, the rich young man.

My Uncle Dave turned me on to Lou Reed at a young age.  The album covers of The Stooges, Richard Hell, Blondie and Lou Reed / Velvet Underground are still very vivid in me head.

I’ve read and heard much commentary of Lou and his impact over the last few days.

The most impressionable thing was by John Cage, fellow Velvet’s pioneer, “You cant be more of an artist than Lou. He had it.”

Here are pieces from Rolling Stone, NY Times and NPR.

RIP.

FYW.
