One of the new acts I look forward to seeing at Mountain Jam 2016 is Aussie-rocker Courtney Barnett.
She takes the stage on Friday, June 3 at 4pm.
I just love Telecaster toting punk chicks.
Who doesn’t?
She sounds like a harder version of Sheryl Crow.
Although her delivery is very straight-forward in a stripped down punk-a-billy-rock way, she has something special (at least for now).
Her version of the Grateful Dead’s “New Speedway Boogie” on Jimmy Fallon is super … but again, in a very simple way. The organ sound and her casual and confident delivery of the vocal part gives the typically peppy song a dark and eerie feel.
Courtney’s appearance on SNL’s season finale (May 2016) has been cheered by the press.
One headline says, “Courtney Barnett Conquers SNL (and America) with Incredible Debut Performance”.
She delivered spirit debuted versions of two of her better known songs “Pedestrian Best” and “Nobody Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party”
