Have you heard the Dawes song “All Your Favorite Bands”? (Click here if you would like to.)

One of the questions I ask each person interviewed for the Music People Project (website) is “what is your favorite band”. Sometimes I ask what are your top 5 bands (in no special order) if I think it will lead the interviewee in a good direction.  Either way, it is always fun to hear the who and the why.  In all cases, the interviewee immediately smiles before digging in to justify their answer.

Teaser reel #1 focused on “What Does Music Mean to You” can be accessed here.

Of the 25 interviews completed thus far, the biggest surprise is that two people said, “Chicago”, and no one said Led Zeppelin. As expected I heard a few Grateful Dead cheers for their top dog. The names are as varied as the people that were interviewed.

> David Byrne

> The Beatles

> Lana Del Rey (who I wrote about in 2015)

> The Killers

> Allman Brothers Band

> Tom Petty

> Blackberry Smoke

> Phish

> Grand Funk Railroad

and last but not least Peter Green, who founded Fleetwood Mac and is considered one of the best blues guitarists ever. Our resident music Yoda, Uncle Dave, gives a riveting dissertation on Peter Green and why he is so special.  I included this robust commentary at the end of the new video compilation.  His entire interview is easily found here, which also includes a great story about Iggy Pop turning down an offer to join The Doors after Morrison died.

Enjoy.
