I don’t like Moe. I’ve tried, but they don’t move me. Click here to read my 2017 ramble after seeing them at NJ’s Wellmont Theatre.

I don’t dig Phish. Although a big Tweezer phan, I don’t enjoy their shows. I wish I did.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band (TTB) is now officially on my “pass” list too. They are great, just not my flavor. The peak moments are fantastic… there are just not enough of them in their two-hour+ show.

Someone after the show at great pre- and post-Beacon show watering hole, The Amsterdam Ale House, asked me… “why I didn’t love the show.”

I said, “it was like watching women’s basketball.”

I also shared that I don’t understand with so much firepower on stage (full horn section, three background singers) why they all hang back rarely tearing it up as a group.

A live band performing on stage with multiple musicians, including a female singer playing electric guitar, a male guitarist, and a drummer in the background, with stage lighting and instruments visible.

Despite being underwhelmed with the band’s energy… being back at NYC’s Beacon Theater on March 25, 2026 for the TTB shows with good buddies was A++. Hanging in the Beacon before the show rapping with other weird music fans is always a treat.

My favorite moment of TTB’s March 25, 2026 (set list) show was the high flying “Anyday” from Clapton’s “Layla” album. TTB always kills this one.

Tonight was especially good as the Dickinson brothers from North Mississippi All-Stars joined the band for the tune… see video below.

Well, this is why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors. No one flavor satisfies everyone. For myself, I find TTB soulful, skillful and uplifting. I love Derek’s guitar and Sarah’s voice. They write thoughtful lyrics. They perform well together. I saw them last year with Buddy Guy in Manhattan and I loved them. To each their own.
