I have a new favorite book!

One of the major benefits of being a music junkie (a great topic for a future story… hmmm) is hanging out with other junkies like me.

While seeing Lera Lynn with Crazy Jay and his merry gang (read that story here)… I chatted with a fellow music person… the father of one of Jay’s friend also in attendance at the show. A super interesting guy.

He recommended I read a book that would likely speak to me deeply. He was right. This was my kinda story. I’ve read it now twice and shared at least a dozen copies with friends.
Written by Mitch Albom (best known for “Tuesday’s with Morrie”), “The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto” tells the story of boy touched by the music gods with a heavy hand. Narrated by the voice of Music itself, the book is a Forrest Gump-like epic of one man’s journey as he realizes the power of his musical talent to change people’s lives. It is also a touching original love story; the love between man and women, a mentor and a student, and a musician and his talents.Like in the generational crossing Tom Hanks movie, Mitch Albom effortlessly incorporates important historical milestones and events (in this case about music) into every chapter of the book. From Woodstock to the early touring revue days of Elvis, the emergence of blues and jazz in America… to The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, a music junkie gets tickled at every turn with this book.

Just to make it easy for you to get your hands on this fast… here is the Amazon link to buy.Enjoy.

Flap your wings Rancheleros.

Yip yip.
